The Gränsfors Splitting wedge is turned with a grooved pole, chamfered corners and a hardened point. Splitting wedges are used to split really large, knotty or cross-grained logs. Sometimes it may be necessary to use several wedges in parallel. The splitting wedge is used in combination with the splitting hammer, which with its weight and strong pole with bevelled edges is suitable for striking a wedge.

The splitting wedge comes with protective case

Warning:

Do not use an ordinary axe as wedge or sledge hammer. It is not made to withstand the force and may deform as a result. Remember that there is always a risk when hitting steel on steel. A steel splinter, for example, can fly off and damage your eye. It is therefore advisable to wear safety goggles and protective clothing. Make sure that the wedge and the corners of the poll of the maul remain chamfered.

Only the Splitting Hammer (21-123) is made to hit a wedge.
